Diocesan Faith Leaders Convene in Nellore to Advance Pastoral Planning and Faith Formation

Nellore, November 8, 2024: The CCBI Commission for Faith Formation held a two-day meeting and training program for diocesan directors and collaborators of the Telugu region on November 5 and 6 at the Bishop's House in Nellore. The event, inaugurated by Bishop Moses Doraboina Prakasam of Nellore and Regional Chairman, brought together representatives from eight dioceses. Key participants included Fr. Vijay Machado, Executive Secretary of the CCBI Commission for Faith Formation and Fr. Bosco Gali, Regional Secretary. The gathering aimed to enhance faith formation strategies, develop a diocesan-level pastoral plan and evaluate ongoing ministry efforts.


Fr. Vijay Machado presented an in-depth overview of the CCBI’s Pastoral Plan, covering its core objectives, strategies and guidelines for effective implementation. The participants engaged in group discussions to explore how these strategies could be adapted to meet the specific needs of each diocese. Fr. Bosco Gali, the Regional Secretary, led a session on regional priorities, emphasizing collaboration among dioceses to optimize resources and strengthen faith formation ministries across the Telugu region.


The agenda highlighted the essentials of faith formation, focusing on catechesis, liturgy and community involvement. Participants also reviewed tools and methodologies for assessing the strengths and challenges within their faith formation programs, aiming to create a sustainable impact on local Catholic communities. The training included Eucharistic celebrations, prayer services and reflection sessions to encourage spiritual renewal and inspire commitment to their mission.


The meeting concluded with diocesan leaders developing actionable plans tailored to their communities and reinforced by shared insights. Fr. Bosco Gali praised the event as a valuable opportunity for collaboration, envisioning a more cohesive and effective approach to faith formation in the Telugu region.
